Travel and Logistics

Location

SCCI will be held in Axinn Library Room 246.  The Library is building 3 on the campus map. Visitor parking is located near the Student Center, with limited spots by Public Safety (Building 54). The Writing Studies and Rhetoric Department is in Mason Hall (Building 5).

And an interactive map is available at: https://www.hofstra.edu/visitors/map.html

The Library is connected by a Unispan to the Student Center: https://www.hofstra.edu/visitors/student-center.html

Lodging

Here is Hofstra University’s web site for hotel discounts:

https://www.hofstra.edu/visitors/hotels.html.

Most of the places are accessible by a short rideshare, and have free parking. The closest place is Long Island Marriott, which is about a mile from the conference venue.

Transit

Here is the web page that proves public transport information: https://www.hofstra.edu/about/visitors-guide/

We can also facilitate parking passes for those who may need them. Email Lisa DeTora to get one (Lisa.M.DeTora@hofstra.edu).

Parking

Parking permits not needed on North Campus: I consulted with our Public Safety area and they said that if you park on “North Campus” the you can use the public lots (anything labelled ’student’) without a permit.

The easiest way to access parking from the LI Marriott is to take a right on Hempstead Turnpike from the Marriott and make a right just before the second unispan (the intersection in the center of this map), then park in one of the student lots.  Walk to the student center and then you can walk across the Unispan to the Axxin library, which takes just a couple of minutes.  The doors are on the right just before the exit to outside.
